Master of Pollution Control

Objective : The two years Master of Pollution Control (MPC) Degree conducted by The Global Open University (TGOU), Uganda has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of professionals in the fields of air, water, noise, agricultural, nuclear, thermal, marine, solid waste and related pollution besides the state of pollution in different countries as well as global pollution issues.

Duration : Two years

Award : Two Years Master of Pollution Control (MPC) Degree shall be awarded to all the successful candidates by The Global Open University, Uganda.

Teaching Methodology : The Global Open University, Uganda will accord admission to the students and provide them all facilities including counselling, identity cards, lessons, guidance, full time / part time / distance education.

Eligibility : Bachelor's Degree / Graduation or an equivalent qualification in any discipline.

Duration : Two years

Award : Two Years Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree with specialisation in Pollution Control shall be awarded to all the successful candidates by The Global Open University, Uganda.

Teaching Methodology : The Global Open University, Uganda will accord admission to the students and provide them all facilities including counselling, identity cards, lessons, guidance, full time / part time / distance education.

Study Materials: Printed Lessons will be provided to all the admitted students besides the contact classes organised on a part time basis.

Tuition and Other Fee : The total fee for the two years Master's Degree Programme is US Dollars 2225 payable in four instalments. The first instalment of US Dollars 725 is payable at the time of admission. The remaining three instalments of US Dollars 500 is payable every six months.

The details of fee to be paid by the students of the Master of Pollution Control (MPC) Degree are as follows :

Admission and Registration Fee 225.00

Tuition Fee for Four Semesters 2000.00

Total US Dollars 2225.00

Accordingly, the completed Application Form alongwith four passport size photographs, copies of certificates and mark sheets and a Cheque / Bank Draft for the first instalment of fee (US $ 725) in the name of "The Global Open University" payable at Kampala must reach the Admissions Officer, The Global Open University, 28 Ntinda View Crescant, Naguru Nakawa Division, Kampala by Registered Post or by Courier. The payment may also be made in cash in the local currency at the Admissions Counter of the University.

Confirmation of Admission : The Admissions Office will issue the money receipt and send confirmation letters to all admitted participants within a week from the date of the receipt of completed applications and first instalment of fee and copies of certificates and testimonials. The identity card and lessons will be provided to the students by post within a month.

Examination Scheme : Each paper is of 100 marks out of which 25 marks are for internal assessment where as 75 marks are for written examination.

Master's Thesis : All admitted students will be working on a particular topic for preparing the Master's Thesis to be submitted before appearing in the second year examination. The topic may be related to pollution and its control in sugar, leather, cement, paper, pharmaceutical, textiles, petrochemicals, steel and mining industries, air, water, noise, food, thermal, nuclear, agricultural, solid waste pollution, depolluting technologies in small, medium and heavy industries, pollution care in municipal and other bodies, environmental impact assessment, pollution monitoring and evaluation, radioactive wastes, sanitation wastes.
