Objective : The two years Master of Eco-Tourism (MET) Degree conducted by The Global Open University (TGOU), Uganda has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of professionals in the fields of Eco-Tourism, Sustainable Tourism, Wildlife Tourism, Eco-Event Management, Adventure Tourism, GIS related to Eco-Tourism, Tourism Economics, Religious and Medical Tourism etc.Duration : Two years Award : Two Years Master of Eco-Tourism (MET) Degree shall be awarded to all the successful candidates by The Global Open University, Uganda. Teaching Methodology : The Global Open University, Uganda will accord admission to the students and provide them all facilities including counselling, identity cards, lessons, guidance, full time / part time / distance education. Subjects : First Year 1. Concepts of Tourism 2. Introduction to Eco-Tourism 3. Eco-Tourism Venues and Business 4. Eco-Tourism Planning and Development 5. Design of Eco-Tourism Facilities Second Year Specialisation Area : Wildlife Tourism 6. Introduction to Wildlife 7. Wildlife Tourism Resources 8. Human Conflict and Wildlife Conservation 9. Introduction to Remote Sensing and GIS 10. Master's Thesis Specialisation Area: Tourism and Environment 6. Ecological, Social and Cultural Aspects 7. Adventure and Geography of Tourism 8. Researching Tourist Satisfaction 9. Introduction to Remote Sensing and GIS 10. Master's Thesis Study Materials: Printed Lessons will be provided to all the admitted students besides the contact classes organised on a part time basis. Tuition and Other Fee : The total fee for the two years Master's Degree Programme is US Dollars 2225 payable in four instalments. The first instalment of US Dollars 725 is payable at the time of admission. The remaining three instalments of US Dollars 500 is payable every six months. The details of fee to be paid by the students of the Master of Eco-Tourism (MET) Degree are as follows : US Dollars Admission and Registration Fee 225.00 Tuition Fee for Four Semesters 2000.00
Total US Dollars 2225.00 Accordingly, the completed Application Form alongwith four passport size photographs, copies of certificates and mark sheets and a Cheque / Bank Draft for the first instalment of fee (US $ 725) in the name of "The Global Open University" payable at Kampala must reach the Admissions Officer, The Global Open University, 28 Ntinda View Crescant, Naguru Nakawa Division, Kampala by Registered Post or by Courier. The payment may also be made in cash in the local currency at the Admissions Counter of the University. Confirmation of Admission : The Admissions Office will issue the money receipt and send confirmation letters to all admitted participants within a week from the date of the receipt of completed applications and first instalment of fee and copies of certificates and testimonials. The identity card and lessons will be provided to the students by post within a month. Examination Scheme : Each paper is of 100 marks out of which 25 marks are for internal assessment where as 75 marks are for written examination. Master's Thesis : All admitted participants will be submitting a Master's Thesis related to Tourism Destinations, Tourism Statistics, Tourism Publicity, IT for Tourism Promotion, National Tourism Policy, Ethical Tourism, Tourism Industry, Nature based Tourism, Consumptive and Non-Consumptive Tourism, Frontier Ecotourism, Ecotourism Resources, Economic Impacts of Ecotourism, Wildlife and Wilderness, Indigenous Territories, Ecotourism Organisations, Carrying Capacity, Rural Tourism, Wildlife Tourism, GIS for Ecotourism, Tourism and Environment, Ecological, Social and Cultural Aspects, Cultural Threats, Adventure Tourism, Religious Tourism etc.
